GOD'S PHARAMCY!

This is an email my mother sent me the other day... AMAZING. And once you take it in, it just makes perfect sense..

It's been said that God first separated the salt water from the fresh, made dry land, planted a garden, made animals and fish...
All before making a human. He made and provided what we'd need before we were born. These are best & more powerful when eaten raw. We're such slow learners... God left us a great clue as to what foods help what part of our body!

God's Pharmacy!

A sliced Carrot looks like the human eye. The pupil, iris and radiating lines look just like the human eye... And YES, science now shows carrots greatly enhance blood flow to and function of the eyes.

A Tomato has four chambers and is red. The heart has four chambers and is red. All of the research shows tomatoes are loaded with lycopine and are indeed pure heart and blood food.

Grapes hang in a cluster that has the shape of the heart. Each grape looks like a blood cell and all of the research today shows grapes are also profound heart and blood vitalizing food.

A Walnut looks like a little brain, a left and right hemisphere, upper cerebrums and lower cerebellums. Even the wrinkles or folds on the nut are just like the neo-cortex. We now know walnuts help develop more than three (3) dozen neuron-transmitters for brain function.

Kidney Beans actually heal and help maintain kidney function and yes, they look exactly like the human kidneys.

Celery, Bok Choy, Rhubarb and many more look just like bones. These foods specifically target bone strength. Bones are 23% sodium and these foods are 23% sodium. If you don't have enough sodium in your diet, the body pulls it from the bones, thus making them weak. These foods replenish the skeletal needs of the body.

Avocadoes, Eggplant and Pears target the health and function of the womb and cervix of the female - they look just like these organs. Today's research shows that when a woman eats one avocado a week, it balances hormones, sheds unwanted birth weight, and prevents cervical cancers. And how profound is this? It takes exactly nine (9) months to grow an avocado from blossom to ripened fruit. There are over 14,000 photolytic chemical constituents of nutrition in each one of these foods (modern science has only studied and named about 141 of them).

Figs are full of seeds and hang in twos when they grow. Figs increase the mobility of male sperm and increase the numbers of Sperm as well to overcome male sterility.

Sweet Potatoes look like the pancreas and actually balance the glycemic index of diabetics.

Olives assist the health and function of the ovaries.

Oranges, Grapefruits, and other Citrus fruits look just like the mammary glands of the female and actually assist the health of the breasts and the movement of lymph in and out of the breasts.

Onions look like the body's cells. Today's research shows onions help clear waste materials from all of the body cells. They even produce tears which wash the epithelial layers of the eyes. A working companion, Garlic, also helps eliminate waste materials and dangerous free radicals from the body.

When you read this it seems so simple. Help and heal through nutrition. Give it a go, if it doesn't work, all you've done is consume a really healthy diet, so it's win win! I guarentee you'll feel great regardless!

Spring Cleaning!!!!

It’s the last weekend in September and hasn’t it been an amazing month?!? Beautiful weather! Sunshine rainbows and lollipops! That’s how it has felt to me. I love it.

So I moved house 2 weeks ago and doesn’t that just suck! It wasn’t even a big move but still so stressful. They say moving house is one of the most stressful things you can do… Well in the last 3 years I have moved not once, not twice but 6, yes SIX times!!!! Ridiculous I know but just haven’t been able to settle anywhere. But now we are in a beautiful place. I’m back with my Rich and I couldn’t be happier… all that stress is done and dusted and now I can enjoy this spectacular spring weather. I tell you what though; I put new meaning to the term “spring cleaning”! And you know what, it felt great. Out with the old, in with the new. We downsized from a three bedroom townhouse to a one bedroom unit so there was definitely a lot of OLD to go out! But I have never felt so free and uncluttered in my life. It’s an amazing feeling. And I suggest you all try it.

Going through all your old boxes of ‘stuff’, your closet, everything… It brings up a lot of old memories and emotions. I actually went on a bit of a roller coaster ride through the last 10 or so years of my life during my sorting. I rediscovered things I loved that I had forgotten about. I remembered things I would rather have stayed forgotten; but used the time to have closure with a lot of those things. I had a constant movie of memories floating through my head for days. It made me sad, it made me happy, it made me laugh my guts out! But in the end, it set me free of a lot of things I was holding onto unnecessarily. I feel like a weight has been lifted. I feel like I have closed a chapter of my life and opened a new one. Not in a negative way, in a very positive way. I have lived an amazing life so far and am ready to step forward into this new phase, completely uncluttered!

So I urge you all to find one thing to delve into, and tear apart. It’s amazing what you’ll rediscover, and even more amazing what you’ll be able to let go…

Happy Spring!

WHO NEEDS OMEGA 3? EvErYbOdY!!!!!

What are Essential Fatty Acids
(EFA’s) and Why Are They Important?

Omega 3 and Omega 6 fatty acids constitute the two families of EFA’s. EFA’s are considered essential because they are needed throughout the human life cycle, cannot be manufactured in the human body, and therefore they must be obtained through our diet on a daily basis for optimal health and wellness. The body must receive a constant and balanced supply of EFA’s to ensure proper prostaglandin production. Prostaglandins are beneficial hormone-like compounds that affect virtually every system in the body. They regulate pain and swelling, help maintain proper blood pressure and cholesterol levels, and promote fluidity in nerve transmission.

What are early signs of EFA deficiency?
· Fatigue
· Poor memory
· Immune weakness
· Dry skin, eczema, or hair loss
· Heart problems
· Reproductive problems (men and women)
· Mood swings or depression
· Poor circulation

Where can I get a direct source of EFA’s?

Omega 3 fatty acids, EPA and DHA, are found in cold water fish such as sardines, mackerel, anchovies and cod liver.

What’s the difference between fish oil and flax seed oil?

Omega 3 fatty acids fall into 2 major categories: plant derived (flax seed oil) and marine derived ( fish oil yielding both EPA and DHA). The human body can convert flax seed oil into EPA and DHA, but it is a slow and weak process, greatly influenced by trans fatty acids, alcohol, various health conditions and mineral deficiencies. Fish, on the other hand, is a direct source of EPA and DHA. Flax seed oil results in less than 15% usable EPA and even less DHA whereas, fish oil consumption results in 100 % usable EPA and DHA.

I’ve heard fish oil contains mercury and other environmental toxins. Is this true?
Some do, yes, which is why not all fish oils are the same. Nordic Naturals ( the only omega 3 recommended by our centre) are molecularly distilled, removing all heavy metals, PCB’s and dioxins. They are third party tested and pharmaceutical grade.

Do pregnant women need EFA’s?

It is especially important for pregnant and breastfeeding women to consume DHA because the developing baby is dependant upon the mum! DHA is an essential fat and consuming enough is critical for normal and healthy development of infant brain, eyes and nervous system. It is equally important for children to consume daily DHA for the same reasons – developing nervous system

Do kids need EFA’s?

Absolutely yes , see above!

What should I look for when purchasing fish oil?

1) investigate the manufacturing process
2) smell – if it smells fishy, the fish oil has most likely been exposed to oxygen and is becoming rancid
3) taste – the freshest fish oils should not taste fishy. Avoid ones that are HEAVILY FLAVOURED because they are most likely trying to hide the rancid oil.

BiRtHdAyS.........

So... its the last weekend in winter and what a beautiful weekend we are having!!! (for the GC'ers anyway)

Last weekend I turned 29!!!! Freak out! Where have the days gone??? A couple of weeks ago, one of my best mates turned 30 (the first 30th of our group). A couple of weeks before that I found out 2 of my best mates are soon to have their first bubs! I had a mild panic attack just before my birthday thinking.. holy crap... have I wasted the last 10 years, they went so freeking quickly! And how the heck am I supposed to fit - buying a house, getting married, getting a dog, pumping a few rug rats out and building a career into the next 10???? Oh crap oh crap oh crap!!!!

Then I realised... I've had an absolute ball these last 10 years! I have some of the best friends a girl could ever ask for, whom I learn from each and every day! We shaped our lives together and are now moulding those lives into our own families. I have met the man of my dreams who I am so excited to build this new life with! I have an amzing family that I love and cherish dearly!

So whoo up with the freak outs Lowiecat!!! There is nothing but super sensational awesomeness to come! So with that thought in mind, Rich and headed to Byron for my birthday and had an amazing weekend of doing nothing and just completely enjoying being together! We swam into the super cold but super beautiful Lake Ainsworth... the tea trees that line it make the water a rusty red colour... amazing!

We did the lighthouse walk, climbed trees, basked in the sun like lizards, ate, drank and ate some more! Found the best YUM CHA in the world! (ok, so I've not been to China and I'm sure they do it pretty good over there but I reckon this would give it a run for its money!) And just chilled the heck out...
Sometimes... that's what we need! A big reality check... then some downtime to process! I've realised now that getting older isn't scary... It's really exciting! And now I can not wait to see what each and every day brings! Coz if you look for it, you can find something new, great or amazing everyday!!!

Spring is almost here!!!!

Hello hello!!!! I'm so sorry for being MIA for almost a month!!!! Gosh, how time flies! Have been super snowed under at work, not an excuse I know but it's all I've got!

We had our RAW FOOD DAY at work not long ago which went an absolute treat! All the patients really enjoyed it and some have converted to RAW where others have imply cut out refined sugars or 'whites' or dairy. We had 3 ladys cut out soft drink and chocolate alone and each lost between 3 - 6kg in 3 weeks!!! How awesome is that! Just proof that its the little changes that count and they can then be baby steps to bigger changes!

I'm including here the breakfast recipe from the day which is one of the yummiest and FILLING breakys I've ever had... It's sensational.... give it whirl! xxx

Raw Muesli:

Did you know?:
Raw almonds are highly regarded in the treatment of high cholesterol.
Walnuts are pure brain food, assisting the production of over 36 neuro transmitters essential for healthy brain function.
Pumpkin & pumpkin seeds boost sexual drive! (Yipee)
Apricots are loaded with beta-carotene

½ cup raw almonds soaked 8 hours or overnight
½ cup raw walnuts soaked 8 hours or overnight
½ sunflower seeds soaked 8 hours or over night
½ pepetta seeds soaked 8 hours or overnight
5 medjool dates remove seed
5 organic dried apricots
½ teaspoon organic cinnamon

Completely drain and rinse nuts/seeds to remove nitrates and activate enzymes
Combine all raw foods into a processor and mix for 15 seconds. Stir.
Process again for another 15 seconds
YOU WANT IT CHUNKY _ DON’T OVER PROCESS

This makes enough for about 4 serves and like I said it is very filling! We added fresh strawberries on top and splashed a little rice milk just to make it wet.

Enjoy and HAPPY ALMOST SPRING!!!

Why Wait...

Why is it that we seem to wait until something has gone wrong for us to do something right? Why does it take a tragedy for us to realise how important someone or something is? Have we really become that oblivious to anyone’s world but our own? Are we that selfish, that apathetic? Or is it just stubborn ignorance that allows us to walk through life wearing blinkers?

Why do we wait until someone is sick or dying to tell them how much they mean to us? And why do we wait until we are sick before we even try to be healthy. I mean truly healthy. Healthy body, spirit, heart and mind. Why do we treat our bodies like rubbish and when they turn on us, immediately look for someone or something else to blame. Why do we choose to have plasma TV’s instead of investing it into our health and wellbeing. How is upgrading your car just because the guy next door did a better way to spend $10,000 than taking your family or friends away on a trip to discover new cultures and explore this great earth! Creating memories, bonds and emotions that will last a lifetime, not the next 150, 000kms.

We get so caught up in ‘getting ahead’ that we actually leave our loved ones behind. Yes we all want financial stability and yes we all want to be able to provide for our families. But at what cost??? How much ‘fun’ do you think your family will have with all this ‘wealth’ if you are not there to share it with them?

What a lot of people don’t understand is that most of the diseases that are killing us today are self inflicted. You do not get “given” cancer or heart disease or Type 2 diabetes. These diseases breed in unhealthy bodies. Be it through poor nutrition, a lack of exercise or extreme stress; we are literally killing ourselves with the environments we create for ourselves. Now I know that there are some cases especially with cancer where perfect, beautiful and wonderfully healthy people get riddled by it for absolutely no reasonable excuse, but I am talking about our society as a whole. Our ignorance and lack of investigative knowledge is killing us and killing our children. So take control!! I urge you all to change one thing TODAY that will make your life and family’s life a little bit better! Throw out all the white bread or fizzy drinks or dairy. Just ONE thing today - and build on it from there. Maybe start walking with the kids or a friend. Or make it a new Tuesday night date to go for an evening stroll with your partner. For the workaholics – set a ‘home time’ and STICK TO IT! As soon as that clock ticks over, walk out the door. Don’t be a slave to the work house!

And I want everyone to let at least one other person know how much they mean to you. Be it your partner, kids, best mate, family – heck even if it’s the girl at the cafĂ© who makes your coffee just right every morning! Send them a flower, give them a call, even a smiley face text will let them know and their day will be that much brighter for it! It takes 5 minutes of your time to create at least a days worth of smiles and just knowing that will inturn make your day better too! So spread the love, take time out, actually LIVE YOUR LIFE… coz you only get one……….

Food for kids, food for life

So did we try a raw soup? Was is sensational? Did the flavours flow through your mouth and into your belly like a wave of nutrients faeries dancing goodness through your body!!!! And the colours, oh the colours are are like nothing you can get in any other food! For those of you going I didn't have time or my all time favourite..'my family would never eat that".... you are missing out! Its the weekend, so find 10 mintues (coz thats all it takes) and whip one up.

Kids love junk food because its considered a treat, for some - a taboo even. So for those who say they WONT eat it - make it a little bit forbidden.. get their curiosity and they will want to eat it before you even offer it. Kids are so nutrient deprived these days because we have become a society of microwave dinners and quick packet mix meals. Even if you are putting lots of veges in your stews or soups, we kill so much of the goodness in the cooking process and then adding in sauces and stocks just adds unnecessary sugars, carbs and ridiculous amounts of sodium and preservatives! So when you when make your soup... make a fuss about it!!! Make sure they are in the kitchen or at least in the same area and make noise while you are prepping. Get their attention and when they ask what you are doing, tell them is something special just for mummy and daddy. The fact that you have just made it 'special' and not for them, they already want  to eat just because they cant! Add that to the amazing colours and BBOOYAA - they are curious and they will be so much more inclined to at least try it. Use the colours of the food. Spinach when processed goes almost like kryptonite green.. its crazy! Or freak them out a bit with a beetroot base... purple food, are you serious?? We can eat that?? Or the bright red of fresh tomato and red capsicum, it will blow their minds! So when it comes time to serve, keep it interesting still... Tell them this is only for mum and dad, but maybe if they ask daddy (or mum) really nicely they can have a little bowl to try. Whoo hoo! You just tricked your kids into eating probably the most nutrient filled meal they've ever had! And for those 'big kids' who wont eat veges - tell them to suck it up! Stop being a pansy and set a good example for the kids. Children are like sponges and watch everything we do, soak it up and store it in their memory. They learn by example - so lead and teach them good habits. It all starts with you. We only get one... one life, one body, one voice, one chance... Use it and make it count!!!!!!

Comfort Food....

So yes... we have established that it is winter and that it is bloody freezing!! And for all you southerners going... It's not even cold on the Gold Coast... clearly someone forgot to give mother nature the memo about us being the sunshine state and all coz it's been cold... really COLD!

So winter is well and truly upon us and its getting harder and harder to get up for the early morning walk before work or even get to the gym as that means actually having to leave the warmth of the house to get to your car! So if you have let your exercise regime slide a little, it is super important to make sure you are eating as healthily as you can to keep your immune system up and winter weight at bay! Winter is the time for hot yummy, scrummy, comfort foods!
BUT... that doesn't mean we need to fill up on carb and fat loaded pies, soups and stews. Raw soups are an amazing way to get a massive amount of nutrients, flavour and awesome goodness throughout winter without boiling away all the vitamins and nutreints.
Leave the potatos and pumpkins on the shelf and grab some raw beetroot, carrot, zuchinni, spinach!!!! Anything that you can fit into your food processor and blend until smooth. To make it easier add little bits of water as you go but be careful not to add to much. Also, to make sure you get your essential fatty acids, add a couple of tablespoons of macadamia nut or olive as you blend. This will also give a creamier texture. Salt and pepper to taste, I also love to add some cayene pepper or chilli to spruke it up a bit. And WHHAMMOOO!! Super simple soup with every drop of goodness from vege to the bowl! You can eat cold starightaway (great in summer), let it sit at room temperature for a bit or if you do need the winter warmer - place it on the stove on a low heat and JUST warm through. That way you still wont lose the nutrients, but it will warm your belly and your heart!!!! And colours of raw soups are sensational!!!!!!!!! So go on - take the plunge... it will leave your minestrone for dead!!!!

wInTeR...

When it's so cold you feel like your toes are about to snap off and all you want to do is stay in bed and snuggle... do it!
That's what cold days are for!!!
Snuggle hard and snuggle tight, sleep till midday, watch an old movie, watch a new movie, read a book, drink herbal tea, run a bath and scrub-a-dub-dub.. even better when there's two in the tub!
Home made vegetable soup made with love not a mircowave. Warm some cocao, knit a beanie! Make a forte in your living room out of pillows and blankets, hide away from that nasty cold! Tell stories and secrets, dreams and ambitions. Laugh till you cry and talk till you fall asleep - who cares, all the blankets are out here anyway...
